Insights Monthly

By Applied AI

For a long time, operational complexity slowed down our best work. Our operations teams have achieved remarkable levels of straight-through processing, but the final mile has often remained just out of reach. AI has the potential to change that at scale.

Our team looks deeply at the fundamentals of how the CIB operates, searching for the places where intelligence can have the greatest impact. We study the hidden decisions embedded within complex processes, the moments where judgment matters most, and the opportunities to make work simpler, faster, and more effective.

Applied AI is helping shape a new blueprint for how work gets done. By rethinking longstanding assumptions and approaching problems from first principles, we're building solutions that improve experiences across the organization and create entirely new possibilities for our teams.

Insights is a monthly window into that work: what we're building, what we're scaling, and what we're learning along the way. Each edition takes you behind the scenes of our latest innovations and introduces the people helping shape the future of AI-enabled operations across CIB.

We're still incredibly early in this journey, and that's what makes this moment so exciting. Thank you for joining us as we explore what's possible together.

Reimagining How Work Moves with Celeris

AI Spotlight

For decades, Know Your Customer (KYC) has been synonymous with friction: weeks spent chasing documents, manually validating information, and navigating fragmented handoffs between operations, clients, and compliance teams. Celeris is changing that equation.

Derived from the Latin word for swift and agile, Celeris delivers end-to-end orchestration that is redefining how work moves forward. Its agents source and validate information, process documents, reconcile discrepancies, and bring human attention to the moments where it matters most.

Celeris reduces redundant requests, manual handoffs, and swivel-chair work, compressing processing timelines from weeks to moments and accelerating outcomes for both our teams and our clients.

Today, Celeris powers KYC renewals, document validation, screenings, and case resolution. The agents determine what information is needed, find it, and drive cases toward resolution in a fraction of the traditional time. Human oversight is introduced at critical decision points, such as elevated-risk assessments, while every action is recorded in a detailed and inspectable audit trail.

What began as an effort to transform the KYC experience has become something much larger: a blueprint for how AI-first operations can modernize financial services. Celeris moves seamlessly across regulated workflows and institutional boundaries while preserving the control, transparency, and accountability standards that define our business.

From Quant Models to AI Transformation

Namita Sharma's career has always sat at the intersection of technology, data, and markets.

She began her career building predictive models alongside trading and quantitative strategy teams, exploring the relationship between market behavior, profitability, and funding. Her work later expanded into funding optimization and balance sheet efficiency, deepening the connection between technology and business outcomes.

Namita remains connected to settlements and securities, leading initiatives that drive transformation across operations, quantitative modeling, and technology.

"Leadership isn't just about managing a team. It's about leading upwards, downwards, and sideways to bring people together around a common goal."

What She's Working On

Namita leads the next phase of agentic email capabilities, including expanding shared mailbox solutions that serve as a foundation for broader Ops use cases. Her team is turning AI capabilities into scalable products that can be deployed across Markets workflows.

At the heart of her approach: delivering the most value to where work actually lives. Whether leveraging predictive models, LLMs, or agentic systems, the focus is on applying intelligence at the right point in a workflow to help teams operate more effectively.

Life in the India Office

For Namita, it's all about the people and the culture. "Our India office goes all out for every celebration, and I love working out of the Mumbai Embassy REIT campus -- it's a vibrant environment that encourages collaboration, connection, and community."

Life Outside the Office

Namita stays active through badminton and football – but her favorite time is spent with her two-year-old daughter. "Nothing beats taking her to the swimming pool or the park and spending time together."

One Last Thought...

We're still in the early stages of understanding what's possible when intelligence is embedded directly into the way work moves through our organization. The ideas featured throughout this inaugural issue represent just a few of the experiments, lessons, and breakthroughs shaping that journey.

The future of operations won't be defined by how many tasks we automate, but by how thoughtfully we redesign the work around them: the decisions we elevate, the handoffs we eliminate, and the moments where human judgment creates the greatest value.

That's the challenge that excites us most – and we look forward to sharing more of that journey with you.
